Carl Goes Berlin
Berlin was our first destination. We chose Berlin because it’s not a straightforward city. Yes, if we can make it there… The vibe in Berlin at the moment is one that is brimming with creativity, with locals infatuated by trying new things and celebrating alternative cultures. The start-up scene is thriving and generating serious investment, yet the sense of dishevelled cool in Berlin remains. Eating and drinking out in Berlin is cheaper than many other cities in Europe, yet Berliners still love to eat picnics in the park and drink beer by the river. Artists and hipsters live alongside technology buffs and internet wizards, complementing each other’s styles and skills. The casual nuances of the Berlin culture represent an unshakeable Berliner spirit that newcomers can genuinely become a part of.
Dimitri Hegemann: art is the only key to cities and localities not becoming boring and dangerous.
Thilde van Norel: Berlin is full of artists, students and music lovers. There is still some sense of space and freedom in this city that you can’t find so easily anymore in other places.
On every street corner, traffic light and café noticeboard you'll find posters, stickers and notices inviting you to galleries, start-up events, art shows and many other of Berlin’s quirky events.
